It’s back! After a long hiatus for creative discovery, our crowd favorite, the Curl Compare™ series, is back with a new product. If you’re new here, the curl compare series features honest product reviews on products tailored to naturally curly hair. Get your natural curls in check with our curl compare series. The last post in our curl compare series simply focused on shampoo and conditioner, so this post will stay on that same track. Once you find your favorite curly shampoo, try this deep conditioner! Without further ado, I introduce to you my current favorite deep conditioner, the Texture ID Deep Treatment Masque.
A good deep conditioner usually works by restoring moisture to dehydrated curls. A great conditioner, like this one, does that and more. The Texture ID Deep Treatment Masque is one of my favorite deep conditioners to-date, seriously. I’ve experimented with plenty of deep conditioners from various brands over the years and this one definitely falls within the top 3. It works wonders, it’s inexpensive, and it smells wonderful, what else could you want?
This product is one of several within Texture ID’s curly to coily line. There’s an assortment of products including shampoo, conditioner, styling creme, and even a thermal styling foam to name a few. Since I am familiar with some of Texture ID’s other products, I can honestly say I was not surprised at the quality of their deep conditioner. What I can say is that I haven’t tried either their shampoo or conditioner just yet, so I can’t say I’ve experienced the entire product line step by step. I normally find my Texture ID products at my local Sally beauty store, but as of late, Amazon has been an easier option. If you can get your hands on this deep treatment masque, I’d recommend snagging two—they sell out fairly often.
The Texture ID Deep Treatment Masque is super easy to use, too. I always make sure my hair is freshly washed before I apply, then I get to work. I find it much easier to detangle my hair as I apply the deep conditioner in sections, that way my hair has extra slip during the detangling process, which makes the entire experience smooth and easy. After detangling, it’s best to apply heat to ensure the conditioner penetrates your curls. Depending on the day and my laziness, I either use old-fashioned natural body heat (shower cap + hot shower or shower cap + home chores) or I use my bonnet dryer for about thirty minutes or so. While body heat does work for moisturizing thirsty curls, it won’t give you the same results a heated dryer can. If you already have a blow dryer, get a bonnet dryer for around $10 here, it’s super flexible and mobile.
