THE BEAUTY OF DOLLAR TREE

If you don’t like saving money, then this one is not for you (here’s square one). This post is for the real ones—those that know that a dollar saved is a dollar earned. Saving money when you can is the adult thing to do, right? Although I will be honest and say that when I was younger, I hated all dollar stores equally. I foolishly thought, “Now why would I want anything that’s only worth a dollar”, and “ugh, everything is unbranded and cheap.” It wasn’t until I graduated college that I really realized I had been missing out on Dollar Tree all along.
Now if you’ve somehow missed it, The Dollar Tree is a discount variety store that has a crazy assortment of items all for one dollar each. New items are added daily. Dollar Tree’s inventory can range anywhere from food and kitchen supplies to car and pet accessories. There’s literally so much to choose from that I almost never leave the store with just what I went in for. You can either shop in-store for a fun, treasure-hunt experience, or you can take your time and shop online. If you need any more reasons to spend only a dollar, then shame on you, but challenge accepted. Here’s a few reasons why Dollar Tree should be one of your favorite places to shop.
Travel Items
Whether you’re traveling the world or sleeping at someone’s house, it’s always convenient to have your go-to toiletries and favorite products nearby. Although Dollar Tree has a selection of full-sized toiletries (yes, normal-sized products for $1), the travel-sized items, bottles and bags are extremely handy. Before spending all of your hard-earned vacay money on overpriced travel-sized items, check your local store or if you’re an early-bird, order it online before your trip. Whether you need soap, deodorant, or toothpaste, Dollar Tree has you covered. I’ve even stumbled across cute cosmetic bags while hunting for travel items.
Party Supplies
Party over here, whoop-whoop! Seriously though, before you press submit on those beautiful (and expensive) party decorations, check out Dollar Tree first for any dupes (if you’re not familiar with makeup lingo, “dupe” is short for duplicate, meaning that a product is very similar to the original) so you can possibly save some money. Dollar Tree’s party section is one-of-a-kind. There’s literally so many items you can get for one dollar each—plates, forks, napkins, serving utensils, table cloths, and centerpieces. The party supplies are almost always neatly organized by color, so it’s very easy to mix and match any themes you have in mind. Dollar Tree should be an absolute favorite for any parent throwing kid parties. Work smarter, not harder!
Household Items
Dollar Tree’s inventory is constantly changing and evolving, so there’s always a huge selection to browse for household items and accessories. First off, their cleaning supplies and cleaning tools are seriously unmatched. I would normally go to my local superstore and pay nearly triple for the exact same brand and/or product. A few items I always grab at Dollar Tree are: Command hooks, Scotch tape, sponges, scrubbing brushes, and disposable gloves. Before I embarked on the serious journey to save my coins, I would spend so much money unnecessarily on household items and cleaning products. If you happen to love brand names (as do I), there’s plenty to choose from for a number of products. It may be easier to check out their products online first, then head in store if you need it soon!
Tips & Tricks
All Dollar Trees are not created equal! Different stores usually have some differences in their products. Try shopping around to a few different stores to check out their inventory. If I’m looking for something in particular and can’t find it at my favorite store, I have three more stores to choose from.
Their seasonal and holiday items are AMAZING! You can festively decorate your home, office, classroom or even your car for just a few bucks! Dollar Tree’s seasonal items need a post on their own, honestly. It’s always a great idea to check the store AFTER a big holiday too, for even better deals. See what’s in season!
Use discretion when shopping for a specific product. Dollar Tree’s inventory is massive so if you can’t find the exact product you’re familiar with, try a similar product. From personal experience, the product quality at Dollar Tree is not noticeably different from what you would find at a typical store. It’s almost as if all of the products were made in similar factories but somehow labeled differently, hm. Of course all products are not created equal though, so feel free to experiment with products before fully committing (good thing it’s only a dollar!). For example, I would not necessarily buy face wash from Dollar Tree, due to my sensitive skin, but I would definitely buy dishwashing liquid or carpet cleaner!
