MONEY MAN: BIGGER THAN RAP
It’s been a long time since I’ve posted, and I can say honestly I have missed you guys. Not much has changed as the COVID remnants are still alive and well. For the southern region specifically, we had Tropical Storm Marco and Hurricane Laura to deal with; and like I said, more of the norm. I will be referring to Money Man as just Money from this point forward. A coworker of mine was trying to put me on sometime last year, but I didn’t give him the time. Live and learn, right? Now that I have repented for my sins, I gave his new pieces “Epidemic” and “State of Emergency” a listen and man… cold, frío, fredo, etc. all perfectly describe how I’m feeling about it. With every song, all I want to do is find ways to improve myself for my family. The lyrics seem like an instruction manual on how to conduct business and carry yourself properly. “24” featuring Lil’ Baby is a current notable single and the video just as tough.
Money represents his own label, Black Circle, and has been progressively charting and working with majors in the industry (Da Baby, Young Thug, Lil’ Got It, Peewee Longway, Young Dolph, etc). If you were to go back and listen to older tapes, not much has changed beyond the beats. He continues to represent property ownership, organicism, business acumen, and protection. Why sign away the copyrights to your work when you can control all of your brand? Who willingly allows their family to remain in harms way? The stereotypical image of what an entertainer, specifically the black male rapper, looks like is taking a new shape for the better.

I honestly think mentally he’s on a different level in the rap hierarchy. Here are few things to note: bought himself out of a deal with Cash Money Records, vegan, strong distrust for middle men, grows his own food on a farm with cattle and horses, and establishes multiples revenue streams outside of music. On the Big Facts podcast, Money admitted to not knowing the lyrics to his own songs so we might not get another tour post-COVID. A lot of guys’ profits are solely based on shows and merchandise so this a testament to how ahead he appears. Either way, all music platforms from YouTube to DatPiff has his discography so run those streams up.
