TOP 5: EASIEST HOUSEPLANTS TO CARE FOR

While all plants require some form of TLC, there are a number of plants that flourish with minimal effort. Whether you’re new to gardening or a seasoned plant parent looking to expand your collection, anyone can appreciate an easy-to-care-for plant. Pothos plant (Epipremnum aureum):

The pothos plant, also known as a Devil’s Ivy or sometimes simply called an ivy, might be one of my favorite plants of all time. Not only do they grow fairly quickly, they’re extremely easy to take care of and require a minimum amount of effort. Pothos are great for beginners or those that have a rough history in plant care. There are several varieties of pothos which makes them very versatile for any garden and home space. Pothos flourish quite easily with minimum light and infrequent watering. Easy peasy.

Snake plant (Sansevieria trifasciata)

Yet another super common, easy-to-care-for plant is the snake plant. If you haven’t noticed already, you can find this plant just about anywhere. I’ve seen it in boutiques, people’s kitchens, bathrooms… you name it! The snake plant is very much like a cactus—the less water, the better. You can nearly forget about the snake plant and it’ll still flourish. While medium to bright light encourages the fastest growth, most snake plants get sunburnt from those conditions. Low to medium light (artificial light counts, too!) is perfectly fine with very infrequent watering. No seriously, watering this plant once every two weeks is actually perfectly fine. Snake plants appreciate dry soil. Come through cactus!

Spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum)

The spider plant is super easy to grow and also very versatile. Perfect for indoors or outdoors, the snake plant can fit in just about anywhere. It’s named after spider plant’s “spiderettes”, or baby-spider plants, which hang towards the end of mature leaves, resembling a spider hanging from a web. Those who lack a green thumb or are simply harsh on plants would be perfect parents for the snake plant. Medium light and infrequent watering keep this plant healthy. Some people even say it’s impossible to kill (now, I, wouldn’t say all that), pretty similar to the next plant, the ZZ plant.

ZZ plant (Zamioculcas zamiifolia)

The ZZ plant can be found all over social media. It’s almost as popular as the snake plant. The ZZ plant is yet another hard-to-kill houseplant with a gorgeous aesthetic. When needed, the ZZ plant can store water in their potato-like roots, making them fairly drought-resistant. The ZZ plant also can flourish both indoors and outdoors, solidifying it as a versatile addition to any collection. Say hello to your new trophy plant!

Monstera plant (Monstera deliciosa)

AKA the Swiss cheese plant, this is is definitely in my top 3 favorite plants of all time. Not only is the monstera plant gorgeous and luscious, it’s super easy to care for. The monstera plant loves plenty of natural sunlight, so anywhere near a bright window is perfect. Some monsteras love to climb, so be sure to have a stake or plant hooks to hold its foliage. When indoors, the monstera usually needs water once every one or two weeks. Get you one... or two.
