I stumbled across @Chavo on SoundCloud while preparing for a wedding over the weekend, and I haven’t been able to take a few of these tracks out of my current rotation. It’s been 7 days and I’m playing his music along with some bigger name projects, i.e. Future’s Save Me. We didn’t make it to the wedding, but the reception was proper (big shoutout to Donald and Katia). Night of the wedding, I put my bro onto this guy and once he co-signed, I had to let y’all know what I was currently listening to, too. Before we get into this, it must be said that no producer, or engineer, in 2019 is competing with Pierre Bourne in my opinion. Comment if you think I’m wrong, but chances of convincing me otherwise is unlikely. Biased? Yeah, a little bit. I’m only mentioning cause majority of the tracks have Pierre featuring as an artist or on production. Nevertheless, UptownChavo hard so what I say doesn’t matter.
The recent music and visual collaborations with Chavo and Pierre’s creative collective, SOSSHOUSE, has me wondering if there’s some type of deal in the works here. If not, I’m still glad new music is out. May be a far cry, but this is kind of reminding me of Young Nudy’s Slimeball some years back. First listen had me hooked and with the success of few more tapes and features, the Nudy we have today was formed. I’m not making any sort of correlation between the two, but I do think Chavo deserves a listen.
