Let’s be honest—Rih Rih is gonna drop that album whenever she good and well feels like it, so we might as well support her other ventures in the meantime and in between time. Now I’ve tried various products from both Fenty Skin and Fenty Beauty (I exclusively only use Fenty Beauty’s liquid foundation these days) since they’ve launched, much prior to receiving free products for my opinion, and I almost always ended up satisfied! As a disclaimer for the folks in the back, while I am a huge fan of Fenty Skin and was super excited to receive this free product for my review, that will not affect the honesty of my opinion. Let’s get into it!

PACKAGING

The Cocoa Cleans’r comes boxed in Fenty Skin’s traditional packaging, a lilac colored box with “Fenty Skin” plastered (you see what I did there?) across the top. The packaging isn’t too bulky at all and can basically fit in the palm of my hand with ease. The soap has a little weight to it, but isn’t heavy at all. The Cocoa Cleans’r soap is super smooth to the touch, feels almost like butter—and that’s before use.

SCENT

Before even opening the box to reveal the Cocoa Cleans’r, I could smell the cocoa! It’s a very nice and balanced scent, not too sweet and not too strong. Now I’m not the biggest fan of anything chocolate—flavored or scented—but this scent is quite unique yet subtle. I also noticed that the scent was much stronger prior to being used. Once the Cocoa Cleans’r was lathered, the scent was much less noticeable. Not a big deal at all though, because once the soap dries out after use, the scent is back powerful again.

USE

Okay lather means everything to me! If the soap doesn’t lather, throw it away! Immediately. The Cocoa Cleans’r lathered up with very little water and barely any friction. Win-win! This soap reminds me of an African black soap, but a smoother, cocoa-scented version.

My skin feels clean after every use without feeling dry or stripped. As I have previously experienced when trying new soaps, the Cocoa Cleans’r thankfully didn’t leave any waxy-like film on my skin at all. After two weeks of daily use, I can also say that it was gentle enough for my picky, sensitive skin, as I did not get any noticeable skin irritations or reactions. Though that may be attributed to the high quality of Fenty Skin’s ingredients, as explained here.

The only downside is that because of the soap’s unique shape, I found it very hard to store the soap in my shower without it falling, or getting unnecessarily hit by the water (don’t you hate that). After doing some research later on though, I realized that Fenty Skin sells a specific holder for the Cocoa Cleans’r Soothing All-Over Cleaning Bar and that solved my dilemma. They just thought of everything, huh?

THE TEA

So, would I use this soap again? Buy it? Recommended it? Yes, yes, and yes! Overall, Cocoa Cleans’r Soothing All-Over Cleaning Bar hits the mark and gets the job done for a typical, daily bar soap. My skin felt clean and moisturized after every use without leaving a film, or causing any irritation. Now, the scent isn’t my all-time favorite, mainly because I’m not too fond of smelling like chocolate, but I’m more than sure someone loves it. I would’ve also preferred the soap to be packaged with the holder, as it is a bit inconvenient to buy the holder after the fact. The soap itself is pretty inexpensive too, under $20, and lasts for a good bit of time. It’s definitely giving ‘the perfect gift’ energy, so I’ll be adding it to my list for friends and fam, if not myself!
